Development of a Low Temperature Electroabsorption and Electroemission Measurement System and Its Application to the Study of Photoinduced Electron Transfer Reaction

We report the system developed for low-temperature electroabsorption and electroemission spectroscopy. A closed cycle refrigerator unit is utilized as a cryostat. Sample substrates, which consist of thin polymer film and transparent electrodes, are prepared with spin coating and vacuum evaporation techniques and are mounted on the sample holder in vacuum condition. Sample temperature is monitored with a silicone thermometer put on the surface of the substrate. With this system, temperature dependence of the electrofluorescence spectra has been examined in an electron donor and acceptor pair which shows intramolecular photoinduced electron transfer reaction.
