  表題の手法(光路長180 cm)で,水田から発生するメタンの観測に成功した.亜酸化窒素とアンモニアは感度不足のため観測できなかった.この手法で,イネによる二酸化炭素の消費を追跡できることがわかった.


  Open-path FT-IR spectroscopy combined with the closed-chamber method was used to measure quantitative fluxes of gases from paddy fields. Methane has been successfully observed with the optical path-length of 180 cm. Variation of the concentration of carbon dioxide has also been measured. The technique is expected to be an effective tool for monitoring gas balances at farmlands.
