A measurement system both of the electric field-induced change in fluorescence decay profile and of time-resolved electrofluorescence spectra has been constructed by combining ultrafast pulse laser, time correlated single photon counting fluorescent lifetime measurement apparatus and modulated electric field. The system was applied to donor-acceptor pairs which show photoinduced electron transfer in a polymer film, and the initial step of photoinduced electron transfer process in nanosecond or picosecond time region was shown to be significantly influenced by an electric field. Time-resolved electrofluorescence spectra have been measured for electron donor-acceptor pairs of pyrene and N,N-dimethylaniline and porphyrin and fullurene dyads.
